03/05/08: We got one of the female puppies . . . We are very happy with her. She is smart, healthy (40 lbs now), and I spend a lot of time with her. A couple of questions on the breed may help guide me on my next step with her. I am discussing with my wife to take her to formal training. I think she would really take to it. My wife is more in line with doing the normal training we do with our dogs (very basic, more around living in harmony with 2 other dogs and 6 cats).

She is very good on walks, we have her trained to wait on her food (she lays down next to the bowl until she gets the “OK”.)

We have two other dogs, both mutts, 5 and 6 years old. She gets along very well with both of them.

A few questions on the breed you may be able to help me with. She has the tendency to chase the cats. We are consistent with her on not letting her do this, but this still seems to be something she is not grasping.

She seems pretty hyped up when she comes in. We both work so she is out in our big fenced in yard during the day with the other dogs. I usually walk or run with her daily either in the morning or at night and then they spend the evening with us . . .

Anyway, we love the dog, she is really beautiful. She looks just like a mini King Shepherd right now. All of her colors are out, very nice markings (she really gets the compliments when we have her out with us in public) and her ears are up. She is great for us and we will continue to work with her as she grows up with us. ~ Joel (Texas, USA)
